There are obviously other changes with different revisions, but those are the main ones I know. The PC3 series, I'm not exactly sure but sampling was no longer an option, triple mode was expanded to 32 layers, some DSP blocks were dropped (not sure which) and some were added (specifically a number from the never released VA-1), KDFX became more powerful with more units to go around. #Kurzweil 3000 repair download series#The K2600 series (including the K2661), compared to the K2500, made KDFX standard, dropped the original Digitech FX that was standard in the K2000 and K2500, made the additional piano ROMs standard, added some extra ROM options and plugs to add the additional ROMs, and added triple mode (cascading signal from one layer to the next) Anyway, good times! Starting from the K2000, the K2500 doubled the polyphony, added extra piano samples to the ROM mount that held the other two ROMs, added KB3 mode, added Live mode to the sampling option, and late in life added KDFX as an option for FX. What I was able to do with the K2000 verses the other synths I owned or previously owned was mind-blowing! I still get tempted to pick up a K2661, which is a souped-up K2000.if I understand that model correctly. It was simply amazing back in the day and was probably to most exciting new synth for me to date. I remember having to wait for the sample expansion though. I got my K2000 when they just came out while I was in the Army in 1990. Better yet, I love what Kurzweil has done over the years and can’t wait to get my hands on the newest incarnation.I got my K2000 when they just came out while I was in the Army in 1990. but I’m clearly reminded of all the reasons why I fell for the architecture in the first place. This beast is deep! There are 15 pages devoted to all the options in the arpeggistor, and the reference guide for all the VAST and KDFX algorithms aren’t even included. #Kurzweil 3000 repair download manuals#Compare that to the JD-XA and System-8 manuals at 26 and 24 pages, respectively. #Kurzweil 3000 repair download manual#The current manual is 388 pages and it doesn’t yet cover the sequencer and RIFF performance features coming this quarter that were announced at NAMM as part of OS 3.0. I get why some people find it exhaustingly complex. So I’m reading the manual to catch up on all the little changes. This week I finally decided to jump to the modern incarnation and ordered a Kurzweil Forte 8. A few years later the KDFX shipped and I settled in for two decades of synth / sampler / workstation bliss. It followed me home, and was only replaced five years later with a K2500 which only left me pining for decent digital effects. Why now? After all, it started the first time I touched the brand new K2000 in 1991 and realized what a flexible beast it was compared to everything else on the market. It seemed to make sense to start a thread for others who share the passion to share some of their favorite features and build something of a mini-community. #Kurzweil 3000 repair download Patch#It can be an epical struggle which maybe a Kronos or Montage FM patch might work better, faster, easier.Īnalogue may be in vogue at the moment, but I have a sizable soft spot for the Kurzweil VAST instruments. #Kurzweil 3000 repair download how to#But not only figuring out how to add touches and light swaths of texture to a patch, but getting the modulations to behave, can be beyond arcane to downright occult. If all you want is FM-y hash, WRAP and SHAPE to your heart's content. The problem is in getting "musically useful" results. Sure, using VAST in its traditional subtractive synthesis style is way simpler, but what's the FUN - pun intended - to doing that? Trying to do arcane, esoteric things with those waveforms and samples is what VAST should be all about. However the biggest stumbling blocks (pun intended) could very well be some of more esoteric DSP blocks, like WRAP or SHAPER, but once you figure out what they do, it's pretty easy to find uses for them (SHAPER is basically a sine waveshaper, WRAP is increasing the gain of the waveform and wrapping it around from the other side instead of clipping it, etc.)I have to quibble with this a skoch. ![]()
